Powers —
Skills: Swimming, good study skills, fairly good judge of character, stronger sense of self-preservation and her own mortality than most teen girls, very familiar with living in a dangerous urban environment
Superpowers: Because of the Confluence:
- Short-range teleportation. She can instantly teleport herself, and anything/anyone she can hold, to a place within line of sight. Personal energy expended is somewhat less than sprinting the distance would be.
- Summonable knife. By concentrating and flicking her wrist, she can make a knife appear in her hand. She can dismiss it in the same way, and it disappears if she loses contact with it.
Limitations: She has never had powers before and is completely unaware of them, and even after finding out about her powers, she will have to practice to use them. In general she's not used to thinking of herself as a hero and capable of defeating threats. She's been a civilian her entire life, and even with new powers, she's still just as durable as a normal teenage girl.
Personality —
Please EITHER (1) Summarize your character's personality — including motivations, behaviors, and psychology — in 300-600 words
Dana Tan is your average teenage girl. She likes having fun with her friends, attends school without particular enthusiasm, and tries not to get killed by gangs or supervillains.
She's a Gotham girl, through and through, though she leans heavily on the better side of the city. While she's just a civilian and no match for even single Jokerz, she still always does her best to lend a helping hand to others in the best way she can. Usually, that's emotional support. If she sees someone being bullied, she'll be there to comfort the victim while her boyfriend deals with the bully. She'll escort someone away from a scene of public humiliation if they need it, even if she had been enjoying herself.
While she knows that Gotham is full of problems and some people are just rotten to the core, she remains an optimist. She has little patience for bullies, but for everyone else, she'll give second, third, or even more chances. She has friends in all social circles in high school, from the popular girls to the nerds to the former criminals.
As she's a teenage girl with about as normal a life as one can expect in Gotham, her goals for the future aren't well-defined. She wants to be a parent, with her boyfriend Terry as the father. She might not have epic plans, but she does believe in a happy future, and she'll do her part to make it happen.
She's well aware that she's not a fighter, but she's also not helpless. When in danger, she tends to lead her friends to safety, or if that's not possible, she'll look for ways to help. When kidnapped, she first tries to talk her kidnapper into letting her go, then escapes when he leaves, and lends a helping hand to Batman seconds after being threatened with death. She does have an emotional collapse afterwards, but in the moment, she stays strong.

Gameplay —
Areas of Interest / Brainstorming: Generally I want to explore her as a civilian suddenly thrown into a world of supers as one of them. Particularly with other Batman and DC heroes around, who she knows as legends far above her, and now she's part of the same group as them. Depending on how open Terry is about being Batman with her, she's likely to realize sooner or later who most of the Batfamily are when not in costume, which will be secrets she never asked for but now has to keep.
For her powers, I want her to have ones that are somewhat useful but can also be offensive and harmful, and she has to deal with feeling like she was meant to abuse them (as, in her experience, most people who get powers use them to hurt others).

Character
Name: Dana Tan
Canon: Batman Beyond/DCAU
Canon point: Post-series BB, pre-Epilogue
Age: Physically 17, chronologically mid-20s
History: DCAU wiki page
CRAU History: For CRAUs only: give a brief history of important events and relationships in their previous setting.
Personality:
* Friendly: Dana is a friend to anyone who wants it or need it. She hangs out with the popular girls, the cool-but-aloof outsiders, and the geeks alike. The only people she doesn't have a good word for are those who enjoy hurting others.
* Protective: Dana looks after people. Mainly her friends, as in canon she's just an ordinary teenage girl in a dangerous city and snarking at bullies is the best attack she has. But she'll do that, and she'll stay at her friends' sides in danger, ready to talk them through their nerves, even if she's afraid as well. And if there's something she can do, she'll do it.
* Optimistic: Dana believes that things can be better. That Gotham isn't just full of psychopaths but also a lot of normal people who just want to live their lives. She also believes that former criminals who want to change their ways can do so.
* Honest: Dana's a communicator. If something's bothering her, she'll talk about it with the relevant parties. Most of the time in canon that's about her boyfriend letting her down, but she's also quick to let him know when she's happy with him. If she thinks someone is making a mistake, she'll tell them so, in the hopes that they'll listen to her advice or warning.
CRAU Personality: CRAUs only: give as many bullet points as necessary to describe traits of the character that have changed as a result of previous RP and development. Here, we want to see what makes this CRAU different from a canon-fresh character.
Always Keep In Mind: Dana is compassionate and optimistic and wants to believe that things will work out and even bad people can become better if they want it.

Questions: Write an IC answer to the following questions:
What do you want to study at Diatu Magicademy?
Whatever there is. A new type of magic is interesting, but also history of this world. Even the mundane topics that I'd learn in Gotham public high schools or college.
If you knew you could go back to the moment you left, would you leave immediately or continue your studies for a while?
I probably could leave anyway if I put my mind to it; I'm used to being able to return to where I came from at the exact moment when I left. I'd stay for similar reasons that I keep not staying in my own life; it just feels so boring and limiting to go back to living as a normal high school student after years in another magic universe. I'd stay here and hope to get back into the routine of school and see if that makes fitting back into my life easier.
If your enemy was at Diatu Magicademy, how would you react?
Define enemy. Bullies, Jokerz, supervillains? Well, I wouldn't be too worried. Most of them couldn't push anyone around here, when all the other students have power and hopefully are already accustomed to looking out for the weaker. So I'd put the word out that these people shouldn't be trusted and say why. Probably also tell them to their face that they won't be able to get away with what they could in Gotham so they might as well shape up.
If it's a cosmic enemy, well... I'd still tell everyone about it and help with the defense of the school. I'd be less complacent about their lack of threat, obviously. If possible, I'd go looking for old friends to help with it.
When is it acceptable to resolve a dispute by force?
When the dispute has escalated to force without intervention. Always try to use less force than the belligerent, but sometimes you have to fight.
What should the supreme goal of any wizard be?
To put their power to the best use possible for themself and the world.
Special Considerations
Your Special Something: Rare Familiar if it means she can keep her cat, otherwise no preference, have fun picking something for her!
Rank Your House Choice: Valhudor, Gekronis Maius, random
Items: A Batwoman Halloween/cosplay costume (with or without the Bat symbol removed), GothDonald's plushies in the shapes of her old Nautilus friends, a Phineas Flynn-designed super cellphone.
Anything Else: Any questions or considerations as we review your application?
